Real Wedding - Kayla & Brad

7 February, 2015

A reception on the Groom's family property, in a paddock overlooking the beautiful farmland of the NW Coast of Tasmania made Kayla & Brad's wedding an intimate and personal day. Kayla dressed not only herself, but her bridesmaids and flower girl in gowns from Studio White. Thank you so much for letting us be a part of your wedding, Kayla.

My bridesmaid and close friend chose my wedding dress for me off the hanger. I wasn’t convinced at first but once I tried it on it was amazing and perfect for me. I tried on a few other dresses but none came close to this one. The shape of it and detail of the beading was stunning. It had the tulle skirt which I wanted and was made for me. It was the first dress I tried on and I’m so glad I chose it. I not only felt beautiful on the day but also comfortable.

The style of our wedding was very ‘us’ – we wanted to incorporate Brad’s beautiful family property into the day and decided a marquee would be perfect. Situated in the middle of a paddock overlooking the country side (and cows) was really special. We still had a three course meal and everything we needed but had the added bonus of the scenery!

I fortunately had the help of my bridesmaids and family – I did most of the planning in the 11 months leading up to the big day but we all pulled together the week before to do the last minute touches and setup. Luckily Brad and I took the week off work prior to our wedding day as setting up the marquee and all the things that go with it was a few days’ work! Many hands made for light work and everyone pitched in.

Our wedding cake was perfect and made by Bec from Nanna Chic. Two tiers, chocolate mud and caramel with matching ganache in the centre of each covered in buttercream icing – amazing!

Last but certainly not least, a big thank you to the amazing ladies from Studio White. The one and only bridal store we visited to look at dresses. I purchased my dress, three bridesmaid’s dresses and a custom made flower girl dress from them. Super easy to deal with and very accommodating. Do yourself a favour and visit the lovely team and their beautiful dresses.

My advice for future brides – take everything in on the day, enjoy every minute of it. Your wedding day will be the fastest day of your life, before you know it the day is over. Try not to stress too much on the day either, if you have put all the planning and effort into the lead up then everything will work out. I planned my wedding within an inch of its life and only one thing went wrong which I could have never have planned for! The bridal car getting a flat tyre on the way to the ceremony has made for a funny story!
